Engineering Perspective / 02

Modernize the system. Keep the business moving.

Start with the workflows and integrations that the business cannot afford to lose.

The Rajasri context

Rajasri’s project portfolio includes multi-year .NET systems that clients still run and extend today. Its engineering services span .NET, web applications and legacy integration.

A modernization brief should describe what must keep working as clearly as what needs to change. Existing business rules, saved data and connected systems can matter more to continuity than the choice of a new interface.

  1. Map the current contract

List the inputs, outputs, reports and integrations users depend on. Include unusual workflows and manual workarounds, not just the main screens.

  2. Choose a small first release

Select a bounded workflow with clear acceptance criteria. A manageable first release gives stakeholders something concrete to evaluate before expanding scope.

  3. Plan the transition

Agree on data checks, user training, release ownership and a fallback plan. Validate real working scenarios before retiring the previous workflow.

A question for your team

Which existing workflow would cause the greatest disruption if it changed unexpectedly?
